The results of the Tennessee flooding of the Cumberland River, especially the Opryland Hotel flooding, have closed the area that is virtually the heart of Nashville. The Opryland Hotel is in the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, adjacent to the Grand Ole Opry. Heavy damage has also been done to the home of country music. It will take more than just a little instant money to repair every little thing.

The Opryland Hotel flooding damaged a central part of Nashville tourism. The complex the Opryland Hotel sits in, the Gaylord Opryland Resort is a large resort. A luxury hotel, convention center and multitude of recreational activities are available there. It isn’t known how numerous individuals are out of work because of flood damage, and Tennessee unemployment is expected to skyrocket. Guests of the Opryland Hotel were evacuated several days ago.
What about the Grand Ole Opry?
The Grand Ole Opry, within the heart of Nashville, is right next to the Opryland Hotel and resort. The Grand Ole Opry House is underwater, and upcoming concerts have been changed to alternate venues, according to CNN. Where do we take it from here?
It will be some time before a full recovery could be made from the flood. The Cumberland flows right through downtown Nashville, and it isn’t just the tourism industry that is affected. The Opryland Hotel flooding has closed a huge employer and provider of services for the moment, and has also damaged a national landmark. The waters have started to recede, but the full extent of the damage is yet to be seen.
